Meera thanks govt for ensuring her safe return to Pakistan

Pakistani star Meera is on her way to Pakistan after being stranded in the New York City during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last month, the Baaji star took to social media to plead to the government to bring her back to the country. A viral video of Meera had been circulating on the internet which was recorded in a hotel room in New York.

In the video, she had addressed Prime Minister Imran Khan and seek his help to bring her back home. “Mr Prime Minister, it’s 2 am here in New York and I am trapped in this hotel room addressing you right now. I arrived here with Humayun Saeed and other actors for the shooting of a film, but they’ve all left and I’m stuck still here,” the popular Pakistani actor had claimed.

Meera also expressed gratitude to the govt for making arrangements for her return. She wrote, ” Thanks to Allah, I am back in Pakistan. A big shout out to Pakistan Embassy Washington and New York Consulate. You guys are amazing. You work so hard to help our fellow Pakistanis overseas. Proud of you and praying for you! Stay blessed Pakistan!”

Meera also lauded the govt officials working to bring back the stranded Pakistani citizens. “They have been working very hard to help everyone, including myself. I have seen it with my own eyes. Please consider this, the next time you bash government or their efforts,” the Nazar actor said.

New York has become the epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, Meera had pleaded, “New York is turning into a graveyard with several people dying each day. Death is inevitable but I don’t want to die in a foreign country.”
