Syed Noor Accuses Sharmeen Obaid Of Stealing His Idea & Then Steps Back From His Allegations!

Sharmeen Obaid won an Oscar for her documentary “A Girl In the River: The Price of Forgiveness”. This documentary discussed the honour killings in Pakistan and described the story a girl who escaped an attempt of honour killing after her family threw her body into the river, thinking she has been killed, but she survived.

While some people praised Sharmeen for winning an Oscar, some people including some celebrities badly criticized Sharmeen for showing the dark side of Pakistan. Many people said that the West honoured Sharmeen Obaid for promoting a bad image of Pakistan, which is an old habit of Western nations!

After making headlines for winning an Oscar, Sharmeen is now in the limelight for showing the bad image of Pakistan and stealing Syed Noor’s idea. Here’s what Syed Noor has to say about Sharmeen’s documentary:

The Pakistani film director further accused the Oscar winner of stealing the story of his film which was also about a weak woman who raised her voice against the rich who wanted to exploit women.

“I have no problem that Sharmeen was inspired by my film, but I’m upset for not giving me credit. I will not take any legal action against her, but I am unhappy.”

Sharmeen Obaid Responds To The Criticism

"I respect Mr.Syed Noor, but his claims are baseless", said Sharmeen.

The Oscar winner told that she had no such intentions to spoil the image of Pakistan. “I wanted to highlight the issues so that there will be a law against them and also to cause awareness among people”.

Responding to Syed Noor’s allegations, Sharmeen told that she made this documentary inspired by a survivor’s story which was published in a newspaper. “I respect Mr.Syed Noor, but his claims are baseless.”

Syed Noor Withdraws Allegations and Apologises To Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy

After bashing on Obaid-Chinoy, Syed Noor stepped back from his allegations and said ‘sorry’ to the Oscar-winner Sharmeen.

Media reports say that Syed Noor said his statements were twisted, and he didn’t attack Sharmeen!
