Mohsin Abbas Haider is pure talent, whether it’s acting in Meri Gurya or Uddi Ja in Coke Studio, Mohsin made us a loyal fan with his versatlity and melodious voice. So whenever we hear that he has released a new single, we naturally give it a listen. However, Lo and Behold! While Mohsin has a mix of hits and average singles to his credit, his latest track: GCU Humari anthem of the GC University, Faisalabad fails to impress as we waited right till the end to hear a solo Mohsin, but that never happened and we are disappointed.

Technically, we understand that this was a tribute track by the alumni of the college – including Mohsin – but considering the dynamic and soulful voice he has, a verse or two solo could have been a nice addition in the singer turned actor’s voice. Lyrics and composing have been done by Mohsin himself and he is joined by others too including Ashfaq Ahmed and Asif Ali.

We did not like the song. Period. Probably, we were wishing for the song to have more emotions and that would make it an anthem to remember for us and GCU alumnus. The music is by Meekal Hassan Band, that again doesn’t really sound like something coming from a band so renowned. The song kind of does not tug at your heartstrings, which it should be, considering that it’s a song with emotional value for many students.
