The renowned religious preacher launched his clothing brand in collaboration with a private clothing brand.

MTJ’s launch is reported to be a grand affair with many renowned public figures in attendance.

In a statement, Maulana Tariq Jameel clarified that the purpose of this business pursuit is to have a commercial income for his many charities. He wants to run his business to fund madrassas so that they are no longer dependent on Zakat. This operational model provides a steady source of income for charities rather than dependence on donations.

On the occasion, Senator Faisal Vawda conveyed Prime Minister Imran Khan‘s good wishes to Maulana Tariq Jameel.

In a video message posted on his Twitter handle, Maulana Tariq Jamil revealed that he was used to pray for an enough source to run the Madrassahs and social works.

Explaining further about his ‘MTJ’ brand, the scholar said that the only reason behind this venture was to use the money for social work, adding “and I did not plan it for business purpose”.

Earlier, according to Tariq Jameel’s spokesperson, a new clothing brand selling shalwar kameez and kurtas is going to be launched at an unspecified date. The fashion brand is meant to break stereotypes and sell clothing defined by Islamic scholar’s principles. Furthermore, Maulana Tariq Jamil was born on 1 October 1953 in Mian Channu, Pakistan. He completed primary education from Central Model School, Lahore. Jamil is an alumnus of Government College University.

He received his Islamic education from Jamia Arabia, Raiwind, where he studied Qur’an, Hadith, Sufism, logic, and Islamic jurisprudence. In 2019, the religious scholar stood 40th of a list ranking the world’s most “influential” Muslims.
